If you can find a good deal on a tacoma go for it. Fords and chevys aren't terrible but not built like the tacoma. Sold my tacoma for a ranger, night and day.
Oem ford pumps are trash!
The tacoma definitely holds it's resale value more than a ranger, which would make i have a 1996 ford ranger with 220k miles, i bought it for $3200 back in 05 when i first got my driver license. Market in this ranger's steering certainly felt much heavier, and the whole truck felt a lot stiffer than a tacoma. Prices are higher for a good reason. Tacoma best but folk on used market think there 15 yr old rusty tacoma is an gold goose.
